Creating Fire Resiliency and Encouraging Bio-diverse Habitats for our Homes.

With escalating fire severity on everyone’s minds, Cat Chang and Maru Echeverria offer easily implemented practices to increase safety in our residential neighborhood that supports bio-diversity and ultimately, birds!


Cat Chang
An adjunct professor of Architecture at the University of San Francisco and a founding principal of Madrone Design Studio in Oakland, Cat focuses on buildings, streetscapes, and landscapes supporting rich, active environments and creating regenerative ecological, agricultural, and cultural footprints within cities.


Maru Echeverria
A founding principal at Madrone Design Studio. Maru Echeverria has been designing landscapes in the Bay Area for over 15 years. She aims to design spaces that pay homage to the resiliency and biodiversity in the landscape, while also reflecting practical and aesthetic needs. She has worked on a variety of projects and scales and has been refining her designs to address and incorporate fire hardening and safety with native landscapes and how these elements intersect with and support habitat.

Zoom room opens at 6:30 pm for "online socializing", share your recent sightings with us. The meeting will start at 7:00 pm.
